Highly Reviewed Restaurants of the World:

Brazil:

Casa 201 (Rio de Janeiro): A- (Fine Dining)

A beautiful Michelin-level experience in one of the world's most beautiful cities. The setting is elegant without being stiff, the presentation is thoughtful, and the chef's personal greeting added warmth that many fine-dining restaurants forget.

The food was exactly what you would expect from this level of restaurant: precise, polished, and carefully curated. There were a few non-mainstream ingredients, sea urchin and pâté among them, but they were handled expertly. The Stilton was particularly memorable.

My only critique is one I have of many tasting-menu restaurants: I wish there were more opportunities to choose. A well-placed "or" option can make a great meal feel personal rather than prescribed.

Verdict:
A destination-worthy fine-dining experience that delivers on its Michelin ambitions. If you're looking for a special meal in Rio, Casa 201 belongs on the shortlist. Would I return? Absolutely. Would I skip exploring other great Rio restaurants to do it again immediately? Probably not.
